Gas leak at Sina At’har clinic in northern Tehran kills 15 women and four men, say fire officials

An explosion from a gas leak in a medical clinic in northern Tehran has killed 19 people, Iranian state TV has reported.

Video posted online appeared to show more than one explosion and thick black smoke rising from the Sina At’har clinic.

Dr Leila Strickland became a mother when she was a few months away from completing her postdoctorate fellowship in cell biology at Stanford University. She spent the first three months of her son’s life “at home on maternity leave, relentlessly struggling to breastfeed.
